D’Tigress outclass Puerto Rico in pre-Olympics friendly

D’Tigress defeated Puerto Rico in their first friendly game ahead of the Tokyo Olympic Games.

The Nigerian team outclassed Puerto Rico 89-63 to start their friendly match series on a winning note.

They dominated all four quarters at the Lange Munte Arena in Kortrijk, Belgium.

Amy Okonkwo, who recently had a training camp stint with Dallas Wings, contributed 14points, 6 rebounds with a 50 percent field goal percentage.

With just 15 minutes on the court, Pallas Kunaiyi-Akpannah contributed 14 points and 3 rebounds on the night.

Atonye Nyingifa had 10 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists while Promise Amukamara scored 8 points and made five steals.

Adaora Elonu also had 14 points and made two steals as the team closed out the game in an emphatic fashion.

With Otis Hughley giving enough playing time to all the players in camp, Victoria Macaulay watched from the bench.

The battle for a place in the Tokyo Olympic Games continues on Saturday with a game against Serbia at the same venue.

The Nigerian side has Japan, France, and the US to contend with in group B to have a shot at a medal in Tokyo.
