Taiwo Awoniyi was on the scoresheet for Nottingham Forest in their 3-2 loss to West Ham in the English Premier League (EPL) on Sunday.

The 26-year-old made the scoreline one-all after Lucas Paqueta had given West Ham the lead in the third minute.

Awoniyi was at the right place in time to turn in Morgan Gibbs-White’s parried shot into an empty net.

The goal was the Ilorin-born striker’s fourth goal of the season after a spell on the sideline with recurring injuries.

Ola Aina then played a part in Forest’s second goal with a brilliant assist for Anthony Elanga’s goal.

In Germany, Nathan Tella scored his first-ever Bundesliga goal for Bayer Leverkusen in the team’s 4-0 win over Union Berlin.

The 24-year-old joined the German club in August for a reported fee of £20 million.

Tella was born in England to Nigerian parents, and he was handed his first Super Eagles call-up for the upcoming 2026 World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Zimbabwe.

In France, Moses Simon scored his third goal of the season in Nantes’ 3-1 loss to Metz on Sunday.

He netted an equaliser for his club in the 12th minute, but the opponents overran them.

In Scotland, Dessers scored his fourth league goal of the season in Rangers’ 2-0 win over Livingston.

The 28-year-old opened the scoring in the 26th minute before James Tavernier added the cushion just 15 minutes before the game’s end.
