Two years after the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) arrested the sons of Sule Lamido, the immediate past governor of Jigawa state, over allegations of money laundering, the commission has re-arrested the duo as well as the ex-governor.

Aminu and Mustapha, sons of the ex-governor, were arrested in Abuja on Tuesday and have been flown to Kano, where they are due to be arraigned in court soon.

Wilson Uwajaren, spokesman of the commission, confirmed this to TheCable late Tuesday but said he did not yet know the date of their court trial.

“I’m not sure of the exact date but they are in our custody,” he said.

The EFCC is alleging that Lamido connived with his sons to siphon billions of naira belonging to the state government, and that monies belonging to Jigawa state were diverted to companies where the governor and his sons had stakes.

Lamido, who was appointed minister of foreign affairs under the administration of former president, Olusegun Obasanjo in 1999, governed Jigawa for eight years between May 2007 and May 2015.
