The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared Christopher Enweremadu, a former commissioner in Abia state, wanted over alleged diversion of public funds, stealing, and money laundering.
In a notice signed by Dele Oyewale, the EFCC spokesperson, the anti-graft agency appealed to members of the public to provide useful information about the whereabouts of Enweremadu.
“The public is hereby notified that CHRISTOPHER ENWEREMADU, whose photograph appears above is wanted by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in an alleged case of criminal conspiracy, diversion of public funds, stealing and money laundering,” the notice reads.
“Christopher Enweremadu is 58 year-old indigene of Abia State and his last known address is: Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs Umuahia Abia State.”

Enweremadu served as the commissioner for local government and chieftaincy matters under the administration of Okezie Ikpeazu, former governor of Abia state.
Enweremadu has been under EFCC investigation over alleged misappropriation of local government funds in Abia state.
In December 2024, a federal capital territory (FCT) high court ordered the EFCC to seize his international passport over allegations of financial misappropriation of funds for 17 LGAs between 2019 and 2023.

The court ordered the EFCC to submit a certified true copy (CTC) of the investigation report on the funds allocated to 17 LGAs in Abia from 2019 to 2023.
