Lauretta Onochie, special assistant on new media to President Muhammadu Buhari, says Patience Jonathan is being investigated by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) because she is in possession of stolen items.

Onochie tweeted this on her handle @Laurestar on Tuesday.

On Monday, the former first lady asked Buhari to call Ibrahim Magu, acting chairman of the EFCC, to order.

Accusing Magu of being bent on destroying her family, the former president’s wife said she believed that she was being targeted for the role she played in the 2015 election.

Jonathan’s wife was actively involved in the reelection bid of her husband. She toured the length and breadth of the country, campaigning for him.

In a statement sent to TheCable, Belema Meshack-Hart, chief press secretary to the former first lady, said despite campaigning against him in the presidential election, President Donald Trump did not move against Michelle Obama.

Reacting to the statement of the wife of the former president, Onochie said the EFCC was only attracted to those who had stolen items.

“Madam, under your admin, oops, your husband’s admin, perversion of the course of justice was standard. Under @MBuhari’s admin, it’s forbidden,” she wrote.

“Again, there must be something about you that attract @officialEFCC. EFCC is ONLY attracted to those who have stolen items. Do you have?”
