Egwuekwe rejects Hapoel’s ‘small money’, returns to Wolves

Super Eagles defender, Azubuike Egwuekwe, has disclosed that the meagre offer proposed by Israeli club Hapoel Tel Aviv made him renege signing for them.

Egwuekwe was thought to have signed for the Israeli Premier League side after undergoing a successful medical and even assigned jersey number three.

Apparently, the deal fell through and the defender blames the club for offering him peanuts.

“I didn’t sign for Hapoel Tel Aviv. I rejected the offer because the money they wanted to pay me was small. I am back in Nigeria,” Azubuike told AfricanFootball.com.

Indeed, Egwuekwe is back with Warri Wolves preparing for the team’s upcoming CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round first leg tie against Burkina Faso’s Racing Club de Bobo Dioulasso.

The 25-year-old, though, is not quite sure how long he’ll remain in Wolves’ clothing.

“I am back now and can’t say yet if I will play for Wolves now till summer or not,” he said.
