Hyacinth Alia, governor of Benue, has urged Muslims to pray for the peace and unity of the country.

In a message of felicitation on the Eid-ul-Mawlid celebration, Alia urged Muslims to shun ethnic, political, religious differences and work towards building a safer and better society.

The Eid-ul-Mawlid celebration commemorates the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

“As you rejoice in the celebration of the birth of Prophet Muhammad, be mindful of the need to pray for peace and unity amongst the citizens, which form the fulcrum for the progress of our dear Benue State and nation,” Alia said.

The Benue governor also called on residents to join hands with his government to rebuild and redevelop the state.

He said security of lives and property remains the responsibility of everyone, adding that “if you see something, you say something”.
