President Bola Tinubu has asked Islamic faithful in the country to pray for Nigeria as they celebrate this year’s Eid-ul-Mawlid.

The Eid-ul-Mawlid celebration is in commemoration of the birth of the Holy Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).

In a statement issued by Ajuri Ngelale, special adviser to the president on media and publicity, on Tuesday, Tinubu charged Muslims to live by the teachings of the Holy Prophet.

“Adherents should make deliberate efforts to adhere to the teachings of Prophet Muhammad,” the statement reads.

“There are great lessons of devotion, perseverance, tolerance, humility and selflessness that we can all learn from the life of the Holy Prophet Muhammad.”

Tinubu also urged religious leaders to use the period to pray for the country, assuring that his administration is taking necessary steps to improve the economic situation.

“Nigeria has arrived at an important juncture,” the president said.

“While the government is taking all necessary measures to make the country secure and economically viable, we need the full support of the citizenry in the form of patriotism, patience, and prayers.

“The light is certainly bright at the end of the tunnel.”

Also, Vice-President Kashim Shettima, asked Nigerians not to lose track of Tinubu’s “Renewed hope” agenda.

“We are all part of the vision of a better Nigeria, and we must show astounding resilience in the responsibility of building the Nigeria of our dreams,” he added.

The federal government had declared September 27 as a public holiday to mark this year’s Eid-ul-Mawlid celebration.
