Ejuke, Okoye return as Chelle names Eagles squad for World Cup playoffs

Eric Chelle, head coach of the Super Eagles, has named a 24-man squad for the African playoffs for the 2026 World Cup. 

The coach recalled Maduka Okoye, Chidera Ejuke and Raphael Onyedika for the playoffs.

Okoye returns to the squad after serving a two-month ban for his involvement in a betting scandal in Italy.

Onyedika missed the final matches of the qualification group stages with an injury, while Ejuke is back with the Eagles after a while away.

Regular stars such as Victor Osimhen, Ademola Lookman, Alex Iwobi, Stanley Nwabali and Samuel Chukwueze are included in the list.

William Troost-Ekong, Benjamin Fredericks, Frank Onyeka, Akor Adams, Tolu Arokodare and Wilfred Ndidi are some of the other big names in the squad.

Nigeria play Gabon in the first semi-final at the Complexe Sportif Prince Heritier Moulay Al Hassan in Rabat, Morocco on November 13.

The winner of the match will face either Congo DR or Cameroon in the final to clinch the sole slot to represent Africa at the intercontinental playoff.

The players are scheduled to converge in Rabat on November 10.
