Ex-LG chairman named running mate of PDP governorship candidate in Ekiti

Deji Ogunsakin has been announced as the running mate of Kolapo Olusola, governorship candidate of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), in the forthcoming Ekiti election.

Lere Olayinka, media aide of Ayodele Fayose, governor of Ekiti, made the announcement in a Facebook post on Friday.

Ogunsakin is the past chairman of Ado local government area of Ekiti.

On Tuesday, Olusola, deputy governor of Ekiti state, won the primary election with 1,190 votes.

The Ekiti deputy governor won the election after defeating Dayo Adeyeye, former spokesman of PDP, who polled 770 votes.

The All Progressives Congress (APC) is yet to produce a flag bearer for the governorship election scheduled for July.

The APC’s primary election in the state ended on an inconclusive note after violence broke out.

Kayode Fayemi, minister of mines and steel development; Babafemi Ojodu, an aide to the president; and Segun Oni, APC deputy chairman (south); are amongst those seeking to clinch the ticket of the APC.
