Elon Musk, the owner of X (previously Twitter), has added a new video download feature to the social media platform.

Musk, in a series of posts, said the feature is only available to verified users, and requires the content creator’s permission.

This means that verified users can now save videos from X without having to use third-party applications.

“Verified users can now download videos if the content creator allows it’” he said.

“We will soon allow this simply by tapping and holding on a video just like you download a picture.”

Musk has continued to tweak the functionalities of the platform since he bought Twitter for $44 billion — the latest being the change of name from Twitter to X.

The Twitter rebrand marks a major alteration since he acquired the social media platform.

The development is said to be part of a bigger plan to transform the platform into an “everything app” for all business and financial needs, including banking, digital purchases, checking, credit cards, investments, and loans.

In a memo to staff members, Linda Yaccarino, the chief executive officer (CEO) of X, said the move positions the company to continue to delight users with new experiences in audio, video, messaging, payments, and banking — “creating a global marketplace for ideas, goods, services, and opportunities”.
