Elon Musk joins Twitter’s board of directors after acquiring 9.2% stake

Elon Musk, the billionaire founder of Tesla Inc., has been appointed as one of the board of directors of Twitter.

The development is coming a day after Musk acquired a 9.2 percent stake in the company.

Parag Agrawal, the chief executive officer of Twitter, disclosed this on his Twitter page on Tuesday.

He said Musk is a bigger force needed to make the company stronger, adding that he is a passionate believer in the service rendered by the company.

“I’m excited to share that we’re appointing @elonmusk to our board! Through conversations with Elon in recent weeks, it became clear to us that he would bring great value to our Board,” Agrawal said.

“He’s both a passionate believer and intense critic of the service which is exactly what we need on @Twitter, and in the boardroom, to make us stronger in the long-term. Welcome, Elon!”

On his part, Musk said he is willing to work with the company and make better headways.

“Looking forward to working with Parag and Twitter board to make significant improvements to Twitter in coming months!,” Musk said.

Musk’s 9.2 percent Twitter stake makes him the largest shareholder in the company, according to Refinitiv data.
