The management of the Nigerian Ports Authority (NPA) has expressed gratitude to the leadership of the Cathedral Church of Christ in Marina, Lagos, for protecting its staff during the #EndSARS protest.

Mohammed Koko, managing director of NPA, said this on Thursday when he received Humphrey Olumakaiye, bishop of Lagos diocese (Anglican Communion), at the NPA headquarters in Lagos.

In October 2020, amid the #EndSARS prorests, the NPA headquarters in Lagos was set ablaze by hoodlums who invaded the premises.

TheCable had reported that about 27 vehicles of the agency were burnt during the attack on the headquarters.

The Cathedral Church of Christ, located at Marina in Lagos, shares a fence with the NPA headquarters.

Speaking during the visit, the NPA managing director commended the church for providing refuge to its staff members during the mob attack on the headquarters.

On his part, Adebola Ojofeitimi, the diocesan provost, said the visit to the NPA was the first of its kind, adding that it is a testament to promoting peace.

Ojofeitimi thanked the NPA management for establishing good neighbourliness and “pledged the goodwill of the church for the trade facilitation initiatives of the authority”.
