Engineering prof Abdurrazaq Nakore becomes pro-chancellor of Kano’s education varsity

President Bola Tinubu has appointed Abdurrazaq Abubakar Nakore as the pro-chancellor and chairman of the governing council of Yusuf Maitama Sule Federal University of Education in Kano.

In a statement on Wednesday, Bayo Onanuga, special adviser on information and strategy to Tinubu, said the president also appointed Abdullahi Tukur Kodage as the vice-chancellor of the university.

Nakore is a professor of engineering and a fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers (NSE).

He was the formerly the secretary of the Rural Electricity Board in Jigawa state.

Kodage is an academic whose discipline is focused on curriculum and teaching.

He has conducted study on Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and Educational development through the utilisation of mobile phones in distance education in Nigeria.

Tinubu also named Yahaya Isa Bunkure as the VC of Federal University of Education, Zaria, Kaduna.

Bukure holds a Master’s degree in Science of Education from Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria.

He bagged his PhD from the same university in 2012.

“The Federal University of Education, Zaria, and the Yusuf Maitama Sule Federal University of Education, Kano, were among the four Colleges of Education upgraded into full-fledged universities between 2022 and 2023,” the statement reads. 

“In accordance with the institution’s governing laws, the pro-chancellor will serve a term of four years, while the Vice-Chancellors will serve for five years.”
