George Ogara, a governorship aspirant of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Enugu, has dragged Adams Oshiomhole, national chairman of the party, to court over the outcome of the primary election.
In the case filed at an Abuja federal high court on November 2, Ogara is seeking an order of interlocutory injunction restraining Oshiomhole, APC or any agent of the party from submitting any name to the Independent National Electoral Committee (INEC), except his, pending the determination of the substantive suit.
The governorship aspirant claimed to have scored the highest number of votes in the direct primary election held on October 4.
Also joined in the suit is Ayogu Eze, the Enugu governorship candidate recognised by the party.
The outcome of the primary broke the Enugu chapter of the APC into two factions, one led by one Okey Ogbodo and the other by Ben Nwoye, the state chairman.
The Ogbodo-led faction says Ogara is the governorship flag bearer, while the state chairman’s group maintains that Eze won the election, as Ogara did not participate in the primary.
