Enugu LP spokesperson defects to PDP, says Mbah’s performance lured him

Titus Odo

Titus Odo, spokesman of the Labour Party (LP) in Enugu, has resigned his position and defected to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

Odo announced his defection on Wednesday alongside Emeka Mamah, former commissioner and coordinator of the Peter Obi presidential campaign in the state.

Odo and Mamah left the PDP for the LP ahead of the 2023 general election.

Speaking at the PDP state secretariat, Odo said his decision to quit LP and return to his former party was influenced by the “giant developmental strides” of Peter Mbah, governor of Enugu state.

“I am happy to tell you that I am back to my home,” Odo said during their presentation at the PDP state secretariat in Enugu.

“I came back because of the giant developmental strides of Gov Mbah and I say kudos to him.

“The second reason is the defection of my immediate boss, the LP governorship candidate for the 2023 election in Enugu State, Dr Chijioke Edeoga.

“Another reason is that the council chairman in Igboeze North, Mr Uchenna Ogara, is turning the council area into a township.”

Receiving the defectors, Martin Chukwunwike, chairman of the PDP in Enugu, said their return signals good fortune for the party.

“We are happy to have them in our midst and God has set this party on a good foot as 2027 is already assured,” Chukwunwike said.

He said that Mbah had instructed the PDP leadership to reach out to aggrieved former members and encourage them to return.

The chairman also asked party stakeholders to prioritise unity and reconciliation in preparation for the 2027 elections.

Mamah, on his part, praised the leadership of the PDP for welcoming him back, while expressing satisfaction with the governor’s performance.

“Personally, I am pleased with the performances of our governor,” he added.
