Enyimba FC
Enyimba FC has announced the departure of 22 players from the club’s roster ahead of the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) season.
The club announced the mass exodus on its website on Sunday.
Brown Ideye, a former Super Eagles striker, was among the players leaving the Aba-based club.
The 36-year-old striker joined Enyimba in December 2024. The deal was Ideye’s return to the NPFL after 17 years. He played for the Ocean Boys in 2006 before leaving for Europe.

Other big names on the departure list include Junior Lokosa, Ani Ozoemena, Elijah Akanni, Imo Obot Udo and Augustine Onyemaechi.
Others are Imo Prince Ikemdinachi, Musa Usman Babalolo, Innocent Gabriel, Nelson Michael, Alade Muyiwa Balogun, Nnachi Chidiebere and Chisom Ejio.
The rest include Fatai Abdullahi, Umeh Gozie, Olufemi Opeoluwa, Somiari Orinate Alalibo, Chidera Eze, Ukadiike Chiemerie Divine, Gideon Peter, Tobias Orkuma and Leonard Obinna.

Enyimba added that “preparations are underway for the new season”, regardless of the exits.
The new NPFL season is billed to commence on August 22.
The People’s Elephant will play their first game of the season on August 24 at home against debutants Barau FC.
The team will then face Niger Tornadoes and Nasarawa United in subsequent matchdays.
