Enyimba inch closer to winning a seventh league title after they extended their lead on top of the table following a 0-0 draw at Nasarawa United on Wednesday.

Nasarawa United went on the offensive at the blast of the whistle in a game they thoroughly outplayed the Peoples Elephants.

Surprisingly, though, the best chance of the match fell to the visitors but Kingsley Sokari missed a sitter in the 42nd minute.

The draw ensured Enyimba remained top with 62 points from 34 games, six points clear of hitherto second-placed Warri Wolves, whose home game against Akwa United was disrupted by heavy downpour  and will now be played Thursday morning.

Wikki tourists moved into the second position, after beating FC IfeanyiUbah 2-1 in Bauchi.

Victor Yakubu scored the opener from the spot in the 23rd minute, but Odera Onyiri drew level for the visitors 20 minutes later.

Uche Martins smashed in the winner from close range in the 90th minute.

Ten-man Giwa FC rekindled their faint title hope following a 2-1 win at El Kanemi Warriors.

Charles Sokoto put the visitors ahead in the 45th minute, but the hosts equalised through Dauda Eboh in the 49th minute.

However, Ocheme Edoh restored Giwa’s lead in the 56th minute to seal the win.

The Jos club now have 57 points from 34 games, just five points behind leaders Enyimba.
