Enyimba’s CAF Confederation Cup campaign started on an impressive note as they beat Djoliba 2-0 in the group opener on Sunday.

Djoliba survived the early pressure, with goalkeeper Adama Keita called into the action on numerous occasions.

The hosts grew stronger as the half went on and although they created good openings, Freedom Omofoman, Abdulrahman Bashir and Joseph Osadiaye failed to convert.

Mohammed Cisse, meanwhile, broke free on the left before cutting inside for a curler but was unable to find the target.

The People’s Elephants went ahead after Isiaka Oladuntoye drove home a thumping shot in the 48th minute.

The 2003 and 2004 CAF Champions League winners looked dangerous every time they were on the ball and came close to a second goal in the 68th minute, but Omofoman was denied from close range.
