Enyimba pip Rahimo to qualify for CAF Champions League second round

Enyimba FC have qualified for the second preliminary round of the 2020/21 CAF Champions League.

The Fatai Osho boys drew 1-1 against Rahimo FC on Sunday at the Aba stadium in Abia to qualify for the next round on a 2-1 goal aggregate.

Austin Oladapo got the people’s elephants ahead in the 60th minute from Anayo Iwula freekick while Papa Ware of Rahimo equalised for the visitors in 75th minute.

Last weekend, a solitary strike from Victor Mbaoma was all Enyimba needed to get a 1-0 advantage against Rahimo in the first leg fixture at the Stade du 4 Aout, Ouagadougou.

Rivers United advance into the second round stage of CAF Confederation Cup

At the Adokiye Amesiamaka’s stadium in Port Harcourt, Rivers United also picked the next round ticket in the CAF Confederation Cup game against Futuro Kings of Equatorial Guinea.

The Stanley Eguma boys were able to grind out the needed result after a 2-1 scoreline at the end of 90 minutes of play.

The game, which ended in a 3-3 goal aggregate after their first encounter, went into penalty shoot-out to determine who will advance into the second round stage.

The visitors failed to convert all their spot-kicks while Rivers United scored twice from the spot.

Nigeria’s U-20 draw against Ivory Coast

In Benin Republic, the Nigerian U-20 national team at the West African Football Union (WAFU) B tournament drew 1-1 with Ivory Coast at the Stade de Galles on Sunday.

Christopher Nwaeze put the Flying Eagles on the front foot from Wisdom Ubani’s free-kick.

Nwaeze was, however, sent off after picking up a second yellow card in the 71st minute, reducing the Ladan Bosso’s boy to 10 men.

The baby elephants were able to grind out a result by leveling the scoreline in the first minute of additional time.

The Flying Eagles will face Ghana in the second game of group B at the same match venue on Wednesday.
