NPFL: Enyimba play 1-1 draw with Kwara United
Kwara United’s unbeaten run extended to three games as the Harmony Warriors forced Enyimba to a 1-1 draw on Wednesday.
Super Eagles goalkeeper Ikechukwu Ezenwa sustained an ankle injury in the rescheduled Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) match. He made way for Fatua Dauda in the second half of the game.
Fans at the Kwara Stadium Complex came out in their thousands to drum support for the home side in the intriguing game.
With the two teams in dire need of the maximum points, the battle started at an electrifying pace.
The People’s Elephants went ahead in the ninth minute thanks to Ikechukwu Ibenegbu’s well-dispatched penalty kick.
Kwara United tried to even the scoreline but found a resolute Enyimba team hard to crack.
The second half saw the hosts attacking the camp of the enemy and they were rewarded for their efforts with Stephen Alfred grabbing the equaliser.
Both sides tried to find a match winner but all efforts proved abortive.
