Enyimba, Nigerian Professional Football League (NPFL) champions, have been drawn against Morocco’s Wydad Casablanca in the inaugural edition of the African Football League (AFL).

The two-time CAF Champions League (CCL) winners will battle the Moroccan side over two legs in one of four quarter-final ties billed for October.

Enyimba previously faced Wydad in the semi-final of the CCL in 2011, and the North Africans triumphed 1-0 over two legs.

Al Ahly, 11-time record CCL winners, are pitted against Simba FC while Mamelodi Sundowns will face Petrol de Luanda.

The AFL is a new continental competition created by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) with support from FIFA.

The money-spinning competition is taking off in an abridged format ahead of the expanded edition next year.

Enyimba’s continental pedigree led to its selection as the sole representative from Nigeria.
