Arsenal scored three first-half goals to defeat Chelsea in their London derby at the Emirates on Tuesday evening.

A Martin Odegaard brace and Gabriel Jesus goal sent Arsenal into the break with an unassailable lead they saw out despite Noni Madueke’s consolation goal in the second period.

Arsenal dominated from the start and took the lead in the 28th minute through Odegaard’s curling strike to the top corner.

The Gunners’ captain doubled his side’s lead on 31 minutes with a low strike to the bottom corner.

Jesus made it three-nil two minutes later with a drilled shot after Chelsea failed to clear a cross.

Madueke then scored Chelsea’s consolation in the 65th minute with a low strike as Arsenal saw out victory, their first in five league matches.

The Gunners move back to the top of EPL with 78 points from 34 matches, two ahead of Manchester City who have two games in hand.

Chelsea are however stuck in 12th position with four straight league losses and no win in nine matches in all competitions.
