EPL: Arsenal open three-point lead at the top as Chelsea secure big win

Arsenal players celebrate winning goal against Fulham in their English Premier League clash on October 18, 2025

A second-half strike was enough to lift Arsenal to a 1-0 victory over Fulham in their English Premier League (EPL) encounter at Craven Cottage on Saturday.

Leandro Trossard delivered the winning strike in a match in which the Gunners were profligate in front of goal.

A stubborn Fulham team started the better side in the first half, but Harry Wilson and Josh King did not capitalise on opportunities, and Arsenal seized control but could not break down their host at halftime.

Trossard notched the match-winning goal before the hour mark, slotting in at the back post from Gabriel’s flick following Bukayo Saka’s corner kick.

‎Saka, captain in the absence of injured Martin Odegaard, was awarded a penalty afterwards, but it was overturned by the referee after a lengthy VAR review.

Mikel Arteta’s side saw out nine minutes of added time to claim all three points and remain top of the EPL.

The North London club has 19 points from eight matches, and is three points ahead of Manchester City, who defeated Everton 2-0 thanks to Erling Haaland’s brace.
