EPL final matchday: Chelsea, Newcastle secure UCL spots as Villa narrowly miss out

Chelsea secured UCL spot with a 1-0 victory over Nottingham Forest on the final day of the season

Levi Colwill’s goal secured UEFA Champions League (UCL) football for Chelsea next season, following a 1-0 victory over Nottingham Forest in the final English Premier League (EPL) game of the campaign.

Chelsea’s victory at the City Ground on Sunday ensures the London club finishes fourth on the league table.

Cowill turned home a Pedro Neto cross in the 50th minute to confirm the return of Enzo Maresca’s side to the pinnacle of European club football for the first time since 2023.

Forest, who also nursed a UCL ambition, settled for the Conference League after finishing seventh. It will be the club’s first European appearance since the 1995/96 season.

The Geordies were helped by Manchester United’s 2-0 victory over Aston Villa. Newcastle secure the spot on goal difference after accumulating the same number of points as Villa.
