Gyokores celebrates one of his goals in Arsenal's 5-0 Premier League win over Leeds United
Tottenham scored twice in the first half to earn a well-deserved 2-0 victory over Manchester City in their English Premier League (EPL) clash on Saturday.
The early kick-off pitted two sides that won their opening matches of the season, and it was Man City that stuttered with a shock home loss against a Spurs side who rode on goals from Brennan Johnson and Joao Palhinha.
Erling Haaland led the line for the hosts, while Thomas Frank, Spurs manager, opted for Richarlison upfront and reaped the rewards.
Tottenham have taken the lead in their last four visits to the Etihad stadium, and repeated the trick — with help from VAR — on a lightning fast counter attack led by Richarlison and finished with aplomb by Johnson on 37 minutes.

A compact Tottenham then pounced on a goalkeeper error to double their lead in first half added time, intercepting James Trafford’s pass into the path of Palhinha whose deflected shot ended up in the net for 2-0 at the break.
Man City huffed and puffed in the second half but did not create clear-cut chances, while Tottenham also failed to add more gloss to the scoreline as the Lillywhites closed out a deserved win.
Defeat ended Man City’s 10-match unbeaten run, and Tottenham extended their record of victories against City to eight wins.

The London club have also won four consecutive away matches at City, while victory in their opening two league matches is a first in four seasons.
Thomas Frank’s side sit atop the EPL table with six points. Arsenal also maintained their perfect start with a 5-0 win over Leeds United in the evening fixture, with Victor Gyokores, their star signing, opening his account with a brace.
The striker slammed a shot into the bottom corner for his first, before converting a penalty in added time to round up scoring.
Jurrien Timber also added a brace, and assisted Bukayo Saka’s fine strike.
