Rasmus Hojlund scored twice in the first seven minutes as Manchester United won 2-1 against Luton in their English Premier League (EPL) encounter on Sunday.

The visitors had further opportunities to increase the winning margin in the second period but Hojlund’s fine form was enough to see the Red Devils through at Kenilworth Road Stadium.

Hojlund put Man United in the lead on 37 seconds when he pounced on a poor back pass, and rounded the goalkeeper before slotting into an empty net.

The strike is the fastest goal scored by Man United this season in the EPL.

The Danish forward completed his brace when Alejandro Garnacho’s volley hit him and sailed into the back of the net for his first brace in the EPL.

Luton, however, clawed a goal back on 14 minutes through Carlton Morris’ header from Tahith Chong’s deflected shot.

The home side continued to press for the equalizer but Man United managed to go into the break with their lead intact.

Erik ten Hag’s men should have scored more in the second half but Marcus Rashford, Hojlund, Garnacho and Bruno Fernandes were all denied by a combination of the goalkeeper and goal-line clearance.

They however held on to the three points, thanks to the bar denying Ross Barkley from a corner kick in the dying seconds of the match.

With the victory, Man United remain in sixth position with 44 points, three behind fifth-place Tottenham. They also remain unbeaten in EPL in 2024.
