EPL: Ipswich complete list of relegated clubs as Newcastle, Chelsea win

Ipswich Town

Ipswich have been relegated from the English Premier League (EPL) following a 3-0 defeat at Newcastle on Saturday.

The Tractor Boys confirmed their descent into the Championship next season following just one season in the EPL. The club joins Leicester City and Southampton, all three of which were promoted last season, back to the second tier of English football.

A penalty from Alexander Isak and goals from Dan Burn and Will Osula nailed Ipswich, who played the second half with ten men following Ben Johnson’s 37th-minute dismissal for two bookable offences.

Isak dispatched a penalty added time awarded following a pitchside VAR review deep into the first half, before Burn headed Trippier’s deep cross into the net 10 minutes after the restart. Osula sealed victory with ten minutes left to play, converting a header from another of Trippier’s assists.

The Magpies return to third on the EPL log with 62 points from 34 matches, one point ahead of fourth-placed Manchester City, and another point ahead of fifth-placed Chelsea, who managed a 1-0 win over Everton in the early kickoff of the day, thanks to Nicholas Jackson’s well-taken strike.

Relegated Southampton and Leicester City also lost today, with Fulham scoring two late goals to win 2-1 at Southampton, while Wolverhampton Wanderers tore Leicester apart with a 3-0 victory at the Molineux stadium.

RESULTS
Chelsea 1-0 Everton
Newcastle United 3-0 Ipswich
Southampton 1-2 Fulham
Wolverhampton Wanderers 3-0 Leicester City
Brighton & Hove Albion 3-2 West Ham United
