Youngster Kobbie Mainoo scored a last-gasp winner in the 96th minute to lift Manchester United to a dramatic 4-3 win over Wolverhampton Wanderers in their English Premier League (EPL) encounter on Thursday.

Three goals were traded in added time, with Wolves scoring twice to briefly restore parity before Mainoo became the latest inductee in Man United history after he claimed all three points for the Old Trafford club.

Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Hojlund had given Man United a two-goal lead at halftime before a spirited fightback was halted by 18-year-old Mainoo’s clincher at the death.

Pablo Sarabia’s penalty made it 2-1 but Scott McTominay’s effort restored the two-goal lead before a chaotic ending ensued.

Max Kilman’s stabbed effort on 84 minutes from a poorly cleared corner kick gave the home side hope, and they were on the cusp of a point with Pedro Neto’s equaliser for 3-3 on the counter in added time.

Mainoo stepped up thereafter to write his name in Man United folklore. The central midfielder skipped past defenders before curling into the corner to claim all three points for United.

The goal is Mainoo’s first-ever EPL goal and second for the club — following his FA Cup heroics over the weekend.

Erik ten Hag’s side moved up to seventh position on the EPL log with 35 points from 22 matches.
