Manchester United came from behind to defeat Brighton and Hove Albion 2-1 at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Mason Greenwood’s diving header completed the comeback after Marcus Rashford leveler had cancelled out Danny Welbeck’s opener for Brighton.

Ole Gunnar Solskjaer retained Dean Henderson in goal over David De Gea while Paul Pogba and Edison Cavani were drafted into the starting lineup.

United were shaky at the start but they had the first chance through Greenwood whose shot from Bruno Fernandes’ free-kick hit the post.

Minutes later, Danny Welbeck, a former United player, scored on the rebound following a Pogba mistake.

The hosts failed to register a shot on target in the first half but improved after the interval, testing the goalkeeper through Rashford’s swerving effort which was gathered by Robert Sanchez, the Brighton goalkeeper.

Both players combined for the equaliser on 63 minutes. Fernandes served it on a plate for Rashford to fire a low shot into the far corner for his 19th goal of the season, ending a six-game barren run.

United should have taken the lead on 77 minutes but Greenwood could only find the roof of the net following a spilled Fernandes shot. The 19-year-old made amends six minutes later with a diving header, pouncing on Pogba’s mishit volley to score the winner for Man United.

Tottenham falter at Newcastle

Tottenham stumbled in their top-four bid as they were held to a 2-2 draw at Newcastle United. Jose Mourinho’s men went behind following a defensive mistake but Harry Kane’s brace turned the scoreline in Spurs’ favour at halftime.

Joe Wilock, on loan from Arsenal, however, salvaged a point for the Toons who sit dangerously above the relegation zone.
