EPL round-up: Chelsea thrash Tottenham as Ronaldo scores in Man United win
A clinical second half performance saw Chelsea defeat Tottenham 3-0 in their English Premier League (EPL) fixture on Sunday.
Thiago Silva, N’Golo Kante, and Antonio Rudiger scored in the second period to lay waste to Tottenham’s first-half efforts that saw them hold Chelsea back.
The Blues handed a rare start to Kepa Arizabalaga in place of injured Edouard Mendy.
Silva scored the opener with a header four minutes into the second half, with the Brazilian defender losing his marker to plant the ball beyond Hugo Lloris.
Kante, whose introduction at halftime swung the game in Chelsea’s favour, doubled the lead on 57 minutes with a speculative 25-yard shot that deflected off Eric Dier on its way into the net.
Rudiger finished the demolition job in added time with a low finish into the bottom corner after Tottenham failed to clear another corner kick.
With the victory, Thomas Tuchel’s side goes joint top of the EPL log with Liverpool on 13 points.
Earlier, Cristiano Ronaldo scored the equaliser as Manchester United came from a goal down to win 2-1 at West Ham United. The Red Devils had to rely on a David de Gea penalty save in the last minute to hold on to all three points.
RESULTS
Brighton 2-1 Leicester City
West Ham United 1-2 Manchester United
Tottenham 0-3 Chelsea
