Manchester City moved to the top of the English Premier League (EPL) table following a 4-0 drubbing of Southampton on Saturday.

The EPL champions comfortably took apart the Saints thanks to two goals in each half from Joao Cancelo, Phil Foden, Riyad Mahrez and the irresistible Erling Haaland.

Cancelo found the bottom corner for the opener following an assist from Foden who doubled the lead 12 minutes later with a dinked finish from Kevin De Bruyne’s assist.

Mahrez put the game out of Southampton’s reach with a volleyed strike early in the second half before Haaland eventually got his name on the scoresheet, guiding a first-time shot into the bottom corner for his 20th goal of the season in all competitions.

Chelsea also dominated and outplayed Wolverhampton Wanderers in a 3-0 win with goals coming from Kai Havertz, Christian Pulisic, and Armand Broja. The Blues move into the fourth position on 14 points.

Elsewhere, mega-rich Newcastle thrashed Brentford 5-1 at St. James’ Park to claim a second straight EPL win while Bournemouth came from behind to claim a third league win of the season with a 2-1 victory over Leicester City.
