EPL round-up: Salah’s brace helps Liverpool defeat Tottenham as Arsenal reclaim top spot

Mohamed Salah scored twice in the first half to hand Liverpool a 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspurs in their English Premier League (EPL) clash at the London Stadium on Sunday.

The Egyptian striker’s brace was all Liverpool needed to bounce back from a shock loss to Leeds United at Anfield last week as Jurgen Klopp’s men looked to revive their push towards the EPL table-toppers.

Darwin Nunez wasted a golden opportunity to put Liverpool in the lead early on but Salah was on hand to ensure the Reds early dominance counted, converting a shot for 1-0 after a good interchange with Nunez.

The former Chelsea youngster was however gifted his and Liverpool’s second five minutes before the interval. Salah intercepted Eric Dier’s poor header to his goalkeeper and delivered a dinked finish for a two-goal lead at the break.

Tottenham improved after the interval and pulled a goal back on 70 minutes through Harry Kane who finished off Dejan Kulusevski’s layoff with a shot that found the far post. Antonio Conte’s side valiantly tried to snatch a late point but were profligate in front of goal.

Liverpool held on to victory and moved up to the eighth position on the EPL log with 19 points from 13 matches while Tottenham remain fourth with 26 points.

Earlier, Arsenal maintained their 100 percent record in five London derbies this season following a 1-0 win over Chelsea at Stamford Bridge. Gabriel Margaehles’ converted Bukayo Saka’s creeping corner kick on the line to return Mikel Arteta’s men to the top of the EPL table.
