Chelsea lost their second game of the five-match-old English Premier League (EPL) season following a 2-1 loss to Southampton at the St. Mary’s stadium on Tuesday night.

The Blues, who scored first through Raheem Sterling to take the lead, were pegged back by their hosts who also got the winning goal on the stroke of halftime.

Coming off his brace over the weekend, Sterling was on target against Southampton, swiveling before finding the back of the net with his precise shot on 23 minutes but Ralph Hasenhuttl’s side responded in emphatic fashion.

Romeo Lavia equalized for the Saints before Adam Armstrong’s strike deflected off Kalilou Koulibaly for the lead — and what proved to be the winning goal.

The loss is Chelsea’s consecutive away defeat in the EPL, with Thomas Tuchel’s side on five points after five matches.

Elsewhere, Alex Iwobi was in good form but his Everton side could not get maximum points at Leeds United, settling for a 1-1 draw, while Brighton suffered their first defeat of the EPL season with a 2-1 loss at promoted Fulham.
