Vincent Ogbulafor, a former chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) who was removed in 2010 under controversial circumstances, on Friday held a meeting with John Oyegun, national chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), at the party’s secretariat in Abuja.
Speaking with journalists after the meeting, which lasted 45 minutes, Ogbulafor said he “just came into town on Thursday” and deemed it necessary to “come congratulate the national chairman of the APC for a job well done.”
“I am a Nigerian. APC has produced the president of this country and I have to congratulate him for job well done,” he said.
Ogbulafor explained that the meeting was not an indication that he harbours the plan to defect to APC, like numerous PDP members have done of late.
“I am still in PDP,” he said. “I have been national chairman, national secretary and minister. I will remain in PDP until it becomes necessary to make a change.”
Responding to a question on how he feels about Muhammadu Buhari’s victory at the poll, he simply said: “I am very happy.”
Ogbulafor, who had once bragged that the PDP would rule the country for 60 years, linked his party’s failure to achieve the feat with the dismantling of the governors’ forum.
“Well, when they dismantled governors forum, what do you expect?” he said.
