EXTRA: ‘Amen, we are all together’ — Adeleke joins Gbajabiamila in prayer for APC

Femi Gbajabiamila, chief of staff (CoS) to the president, says the All Progressives Congress (APC) will continue to grow stronger through the efforts of its members.

Gbajabiamila spoke during a courtesy visit to Ademola Adeleke, governor of Osun, at the government house in Osogbo, the state capital.

However, while addressing the governor, Gbajabiamila offered a prayer for the growth of the ruling APC, to which he asked Adeleke to say amen.

“I want to say a prayer, and I want to hear your very powerful Amen,” Gbajabiamila said.

“By virtue of your work, APC will continue to get stronger. Say Amen.”

Turning to Adeleke, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) member, Gbajabiamila added, “Your Excellency, I didn’t hear your Amen.”

In response, Adeleke affirmed the prayer, saying, “Amen, we are all together.”

Jokingly, Gbajabiamila said, “that’s the point: we are all together.”

Earlier, Gbajabiamila had lauded Adeleke and members of his executive council for doing a good job in the state.

The former speaker of the house of representatives gave the commendation before proceeding to deliver the first annual lecture of Osun State University (UNIOSUN).

He said the governor had prioritised governance over politics in his dealings with the federal government.

“I must say you and members of your team are doing a phenomenal job in the state and on the national pedestal,” Gbajabiamila said.

He said the state had pushed forward some of its finest members to the national assembly, noting that the good job being done by Bamidele Salam as chairman of the house committee on public accounts had enabled the APC-led federal government to plug some holes that served as conduit pipes for corruption.

Gbajabiamila also appreciated the governor for the warm reception accorded him and his entourage.

On May 1, Adeleke rejected claims of his potential defection from the PDP to the APC during a strategic meeting with party leaders.

“My people, party elders and chiefs, I declare before you today that I am not defecting to APC or any other political party,” he said.
