A Gwagwalada upper area Court on Thursday ordered the arrest of a 36-year-old civil servant, for allegedly casting a “juju spell” on a four-year-old girl in Abuja.

NAN reports that the civil servant, Moses Zaka, conspired with a native doctor to perform the rituals.

The offence was said to contravene the provisions of sections 97 and 216 of the penal code.

During the trial, Abdullahi Abdulkarim, the presiding judge, issued an arrest warrant, following an oral application by Abdullahi Tanko, the prosecution counsel.

Tanko was said to have pleaded with the court to withdraw the bail of the defendant for not appearing to defend the case against him.

The judge directed that a hearing notice be served to the surety and adjourned the case till May 15 for a hearing.

Labaran Dikko, the victim’s father from Gosa, a village in Abuja, was said to have reported the case to the police on December 16, 2022.

Dikko did not state exactly what happened to his daughter after the rituals.

The police charged the suspect with criminal conspiracy and unlawful juju.

During the investigation, the suspect was said to have confessed to the crime, adding that a native doctor carried out the rituals in his house.
