Senate President Godswill Akpabio on Wednesday invited opposition senators to the All Progressives Congress (APC) summit scheduled for Thursday.
Akpabio spoke at the close of plenary on Wednesday while addressing lawmakers in the upper legislative chamber.
“Permit me to make a simple announcement before we call it a day,” he said.
“Distinguished senators of the APC extraction are invited to attend an APC meeting slated for tomorrow, 22nd day of May 2025, at the State House banquet hall.

“Departure time from here will be 1pm. Accreditation will happen simultaneously between here and the house of representatives and buses will be made available to convey you all.
“People are expected to be seated before 1:30pm. The programme is slated to commence by 2pm prompt.
“So, we will have our normal sitting in the morning, and from here we all move together to go there.

“This is strictly for APC senators and APC members of the house of representatives.
“But, at the same time, because of the magnanimity of the senate, we have extended the invitation to intended APC members. So, this I believe is fair and just, so that nobody will feel left out.
“Therefore, minority leader of the senate, take note.”
Akpabio then struck the gavel as senators erupted in laughter.

The ruling party had earlier invited stakeholders to the summit themed ‘Renewed Hope Agenda: The Journey So Far’.
According to the invitation signed by Ajibola Basiru, APC national secretary, the event is designed as a platform for “dialogue, reflection, and strategic planning for the future of our great party and the nation”.
