A group known as the Imo Compatriots for Good Governance is set to hold a “political summit”, which will focus on recovering “looted assets” allegedly acquired by Rochas Okorocha, former governor of Imo.

The event, which is tagged: “Recovering Looted Imo Assets from Senator Rochas Okorocha, His Relatives and Cronies”, is scheduled for Wednesday in Owerri, the Imo state capital.

TheCable gathered that the focus of the summit is to encourage Hope Uzodimma, current governor of Imo, to recover state assets allegedly looted by his predecessor.

Okorocha’s clash with Uzodimma dates back to 2019, when the latter emerged as the Imo governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

Some properties said to be linked to the former governor have been seized by the state government, and on February 21, Okorocha was arrested by security operatives after he unsealed one of the properties.

Less than one week after Okorocha’s arrest, a high court in Imo ordered the interim forfeiture of all the properties said to have been acquired through “illegal means” by the former governor.

But reacting to the judgement, the senator representing Imo west accused Uzodimma of deceiving the court into seizing his property.
