EXTRA: I tested positively negative for COVID-19, says Trump

United States President Donald Trump says he tested “very positively” for COVID-19.

Addressing reporters on Thursday, Trump said this meant he tested negative for the disease.

“I tested very positively in another sense,” UK Guardian quoted him as saying.

“So, this morning, I tested positively towards negative. I tested perfectly this morning, meaning I tested negative.”

The US remains the worst hit country with at least 1.6 million cases of the coronavirus and more than 95,000 deaths.

Globally, the number of infected persons has exceeded five million while more than 331,000 have died from the disease.

Europe remains the worst hit continent with 1.8 million cases and 166,600 deaths, followed by North America which has recorded 1.7 million cases and 109,000 deaths.

In Africa, over 100,000 people have been infected with the disease which has killed 3,062.
