The Kano Hisbah board has banned the use of mannequins at shops, public and private places for clothes display.

Aroun Ibn-Sina, commander of the state Hisbah board, announced this on Wednesday.

Ibn-Sina said mannequins used by tailors, boutique owners, and for commercials violate Islamic provisions and teachings.

According to him, the board will commence public sensitisation to educate people on the stands of Islam on the use of mannequins.

He asked tailors, owners of boutiques, and supermarkets to stop using it for clothes displays, adding that monitoring and implementation of the ban will be carried out and offenders will be apprehended and prosecuted by the agency.

”Hisbah prohibits the use of mannequins at shops, commercial and private residences, and other public places. This violates Islamic provisions, it is also responsible for immoral thoughts among some members of the public, all these are against Islam,” he said.

“We have divided Kano into five areas for the monitoring and implementation of the ban across the state.”
