Youths in Katsina have organised a training on the use of catapults against attacks by bandits in the state.

There have been several attacks by bandits on communities across states in the north, leading to abductions and killings.

The youths, who identified themselves as members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) social media organisation in Katsina state, said the training was organised to defend residents against bandits’ activities.

The exercise was tagged ‘Operation Catapult Shoot’.

The youths were said to have acquired the catapults following the recent advice of the state government for residents to take proactive action against bandits.

Aminu Masari, Katsina governor, had on June 25, while inaugurating the state security operations and communication control centre at the police headquarters, advised residents to also take some responsibility for their security.

Speaking on the exercise, which was shared on social media, Nuraddeen Adam, chairman of the PDP social media organisation in the state, said the youths decided to embark on the training to protect themselves.
