Ajuji Ahmed, the national chairman of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), has dismissed party members who recently defected to other political platforms, wishing them a “rough road” in their new political journey.
Speaking on Thursday during the 10th meeting of the party’s national executive committee (NEC) held in Abuja, Ahmed described the defectors as ‘renegades’.
“I call upon you to please forget entirely the antics of renegades who call themselves defectors,” he advised.
“May their road continue to be rough.”

“If a man or some men decided to jump from calm waters only to land in not just a frying pan but directly into a burning fire, we wish them a safe journey.”
Ahmed said the NNPP has remained united despite attempts by external forces to destabilise it, noting that the party has not been factionalised or captured by any individual interest.
“We are not fragmented into three parts with two party chairmen. We have not been captured and broken and made ineffective by a single omnipotent external force,” he said.

“We are NNPP. We are united and focused on our distinct philosophy and objectives.”
Ahmed praised the performance of the NNPP-led government in Kano state, commending the governor for delivering on education, healthcare, infrastructure and human development.
The NNPP chairman warned against efforts to impose a one-party state in the country, noting that such a move would ultimately fail.
“Political parties succeed only when you have a combination of the combinables,” he said, alluding to Keneth Ozumba Mbadiwe’s popular axiom.

“A combination of the uncombinables would lead to self-implosion.”
Ahmed assured party members that the national working committee (NWC) would continue to work towards strengthening the party nationwide and positioning it for victory in the next general election.
