Benjamin Mendy, Manchester City full-back, is reported to have bragged before one of his alleged rape victims that he had slept with 10,000 women.

According to The Guardian, the conversation between the 28-year-old French footballer and a woman he allegedly raped was revealed to Chester’s crown on Thursday.

In 2021, Mendy was charged with four counts of rape and one count of sexual assault after several individuals reported him to the police.

The defender was immediately suspended by Manchester City as the trial commenced.

In the latest court hearing, a police video interview revealed how one of Mendy’s alleged victims recounted her meeting with the Frenchman at a bar in Alderley Edge, Cheshire town on October 11, 2020.

The woman, who was aged 24 at the time, claimed that the footballer locked her in a room, collected her phone, and asked her to strip naked.

“I said: I don’t want to have sex with you. I want to go,” she told the police.

The woman alleged that Mendy then grabbed her from behind, despite her protest.

“He said: ‘Oh, you’re too shy’. And I said ‘No, I’m not shy. I just don’t want to have sex with you.’ And he was like: ‘It’s fine. I’ve had sex with 10,000 women. It’s OK,’” she added.

“What really upsets me is how many times I said no. How many times I said: I don’t want to have sex with you. I was very clear and that wasn’t listened to.”

Mendy has denied all of the charges against him as the trial continues.
