Lere Olayinka
Lere Olayinka, the media aide to Nyesom Wike, minister of the federal capital territory (FCT), has described the ongoing national convention of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as a “social party”.
On Saturday, at the PDP national convention taking place in Ibadan, the Oyo state capital, the opposition party expelled Wike and 10 other members.
Some names on the expulsion list include Samuel Anyanwu, PDP’s suspended national secretary, and Ayo Fayose, former governor of Ekiti.
However, in a statement on Saturday evening, Olayinka said those present at the convention decided to “start dirty December in November”, adding that “one can’t but ignore whatever comes out of their mouths”.

The FCT minister’s spokesperson added that the decisions made at the event were irrelevant, noting that “they are free to say anything.”
“They went to Ibadan to start dirty December in November,” the statement reads.
“When people decided to start their own dirty December in November, one can’t but ignore whatever comes out of their mouths. They are free to say anything.”

In recent months, the Wike-led PDP faction had sought to halt the convention through the courts, but the party secured a high court judgement in Oyo allowing the event to proceed.
