FAAN announces partial closure of Lagos airport access road over air force walk exercise

FAAN: Lagos airport will accommodate 17.6m passengers annually after rehabilitation FAAN: Lagos airport will accommodate 17.6m passengers annually after rehabilitation

The Federal Airports Authority of Nigeria (FAAN) says there will be a partial closure of the access road between Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal 2 (MMA2) and the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA) in Lagos on Saturday.

In its travel advisory on Friday, FAAN said the partial closure is to allow the Nigerian air force to conduct its annual 10-kilometre (km) walk/jog exercise.

FAAN said the exercise will commence at 6:00am, adding that security personnel will be stationed along the affected roads to manage traffic and ensure public safety.

“During this period, security personnel would be deployed along access roads to direct traffic and ensure safety,” the agency said.

“This does not in any way disrupt airport operations, as scheduled flights would operate normally. The access roads would be completely opened immediately after the exercise.”

FAAN advised passengers and other airport users to plan their movements accordingly, as “localised traffic disruptions may occur around the airport vicinity during the exercise”.

The authority also expressed regret over any inconvenience the temporary closure may cause and appealed for the public’s understanding and cooperation.
