Skincare experts have asked Nigerians to be vigilant about product authenticity.

Speaking at the launch of Berceker, a new skincare product, Obianuju Ugwuoke, chief executive officer (CEO) of Tulip Bodycare, stressed the importance of transparency in product formulation and vendor selection.

Ugwuoke warned that Nigerian consumers are often exposed to poorly regulated or fake products, sometimes with dangerous or undisclosed ingredients.

She said the new product would respond to the risk by using only accredited vendors and listing them on its official website, adding that customers should only buy from the verified sources.

“We are here for the launch of Berceker, the latest skincare brand in town. What is unique about it is that the ingredients are very well displayed. You know exactly what you are putting on your skin,” she said.

“We sourced most of the ingredients from Korea, which is widely recognised for its advanced skincare research, and had the product manufactured in Turkey.”

Alero Omole, a certified aesthetician, offered practical advice on choosing safe and effective skincare.

She urged Nigerians to opt for products containing alpha arbutin, vitamin C, and ceramides, citing their clinically proven benefits for skin repair and resilience.

“Alpha arbutin helps reduce hyperpigmentation by blocking melanin production. Vitamin C keeps your skin fresh and even-toned. Ceramides strengthen the skin barrier and prevent dryness and irritation,” she said.

“What makes Berceker impressive is that it combines all three in its formulations.”

Rabia Usoro, the CEO of Hareem Istanbul, the company behind Berceker, said the product has been in development for over three years.
