legal practitioner and human rights activist, Mr. Femi Falana, has urged the federal government to secure the release of the abducted girls in Borno State.

Speaking on Monday at the presentation of a book titled Before We Forget: Obasanjo’s Letter to President Jonathan and the Aftermath, Falana lamented the embarrassment that the state of insecurity caused the country, and noted that there is an urgent need for government intervention.

“As a father, I felt touched when I saw a group of people spearheading the #BringBackOurGirls rally,” he said.

“It is good that the attention of the world has been drawn to the plight of Nigeria.”

Mr. Abayomi Francis, author of the book and Director Peace and Development Project (PEDEP) — a civil society organisation — stated that the essence of the documentation is to deepen political education, so that present and future generations can take a cue from history and avoid the mistakes of today.

He said the 237-page publication, which “projects facts rather than fictions,” has permanently put issues in the court of public opinion, so that useful lessons can be drawn from history, as the country grapples with its leadership and governance challenges.

Dr. Sylvester Akhaine, reviewer of the book, commended the author for his contributions.

He highlighted the importance of using such a medium to pass a message across, expressing optimism that it would serve as a reference material for future generations.

Sylvester urged Nigerians to take advantage of the book, and to join hands with the government to tackle the challenges affecting the country.
