The Progressive Communication and Strategy Think-Tank, a socio-cultural group, has asked Kayode Fayemi, incoming governor of Ekiti state, to hit the ground running.

In a statement on Monday, Idowu Quadri, spokesman of the conveners, said the stomach infrastructure popularised by the current administration was a bad influence on the people.

He urged the incoming governor to create new set of values.

Quadri said if Fayemi concentrates on the alleged unwholesome actions of the outgoing administration, it could derail his regime.

He added that the incoming governor had the onerous task of fast-forwarding developments in infrastructure, education, value reorientation, security and youths engagements.

“These are the reasons Fayemi can not afford to spend time brooding over the actions or inaction of the last administration,” he said.

“Considering the enormity of the challenges ahead, Fayemi must hit the grounds running in order to cover for the lost grounds.

“The state gave life to the ‘stomach infrastructure’ slang. This has come to be of bad influence on psyche of the populace not only in Ekiti but has reverberated through the country. This has killed value addition and relegated hard work and people believe that governments at all levels have limitless resources to feed the populace even when they don’t work. The people’s minds must reset to the mode where they admit wholeheartedly that work is the antidote to poverty.”

Quadri said it is a good thing that Fayemi already had background knowledge of the entire state and knew exactly where he left its affairs four years ago and should let the people feel the difference in good governance.

Fayemi will be sworn-in as the governor of the state on Tuesday.
