Fayemi tests negative for coronavirus

Kayode Fayemi, governor of Ekiti state, says he tested negative for coronavirus (COVID-19).

The governor said this in a tweet on Friday.

On Wednesday, Fayemi said he had taken a test to know his COVID-19 status after having contact with two positive cases.

The governor said though he had no symptoms, he had gone into self-isolation pending when his result is out.

“I just received my test result from NCDC and it is negative. Thanks to all for your concern,” he said.

“This, however, calls for continued vigilance on the part of everyone. Covid-19 is real and we cannot afford to be complacent.”

As of Thursday, Nigeria has a total of 65 coronavirus cases with Lagos having the highest number — 44.

Ekiti has just one case of the virus.

The state government had said the patient is a 38-year-old driver and indigene of the state who had contact with an American, who died of complications from an undisclosed ailment.
